Cooperation with authorities
Pražské Matky in the long term influence the responsible offices in the transport area – the representatives of the state administration and local governments – to create better conditions for safer passage of pedestrians and cyclists on the streets of the capital city. We use for this purpose our influence within the structure of the public administration as well as a long-term cooperation with other institutes.
Currently, we actively attend the meetings of BESIP working group, the goal of which is, above all, in safety of pedestrians and cyclists on Prague streets. We also attend meetings of the “Walking Group” within the Transportation Department of the Prague Municipal Authority that was established in 2008 with the aim to create better conditions for Prague pedestrians and wrote the draft Principles of Development of Pedestrian Transport stipulating the basic conditions for development of pedestrian transport in Prague as the fundamental, most natural, ecological and healthy transport.
We attend meetings of the Transport Committee of the Municipal Council of Capital of Prague where we try to urge acceptance of the Principles of Development of Pedestrian Transport and also act on behalf of individual transport cases. We have also started cooperation with the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic and currently we work together on amendment of Act No. 361/2000 Coll., on the Road Traffic, for the benefit of the most vulnerable participants of the road traffic.
